Oxy Engage
WELCOME
Welcome to Oxy from the Division of Student Affairs! We are excited to have you join our community. As you begin making your transition to college, we want to encourage you to participate in the OxyEngage pre-orientation program to kick-start your first year experience!
OxyEngage Program
Each summer, the OxyEngage pre-orientation program offers great ways for incoming students to explore, connect, and encounter through one of the three types of experiences that take place in and around Los Angeles.
- OxyConnects makes real one of the cornerstones of Occidental's mission - community - by introducing students to the needs of our surrounding communities and the opportunity to respond to those needs through community service-oriented trips.
- OxyEncounters is the perfect opportunity for students unfamiliar with Los Angeles to encounter the diversity of arts and culture found in nearby Eagle Rock and in greater Los Angeles through tours of the city's art and cultural centers.
- OxyExplores gives students who love the outdoors the opportunity to participate in one of four wilderness trips led by trained professionals that feature hiking, kayaking, backpacking, rock climbing, and opportunities to learn about nature conservation.
Oxy student leaders will be attending each trip to provide support and answer questions about being a student at Occidental.

OxyEngage Dates
All OxyEngage trips occur August 26-28, 2009. Students will be allowed to move in to their residence halls on August 25.
Registration for OxyEngage
Registration is now closed. (Updated July 2, 2009)
Spaces are limited. Students will be placed in their preferred trip option according to the order their payment and required registration forms are received in the Office of Student Life. A limited amount of financial aid is available. Contact the Director of Financial Aid, Maureen McRae at mmclevy@oxy.edu or call 323-259-2548.
