Stewart-Cleland Hall is named in honor of Milton and Mary W. Stewart, generous benefactors of the College for a long period of years; and Robert Glass Cleland '07, Ph.D., LL.D., Litt. D., historian, author, Professor of History, former Dean of the Faculty and Vice-President and member of the Board of Trustees; his father, the Reverend Robert W. Cleland; his mother Sallie Glass Cleland; his brother, T. Horace Cleland '03 and his wife, Muriel Stewart Cleland. This building houses one hundred and forty-two students. Erected 1953.
