Occidental College is currently engaged in the process of reaccreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Institutional accreditation in the United States is a voluntary and non-governmental process in which Occidental College participates as a public acknowledgment of the college's commitment to ongoing improvement in its educational effectiveness, especially with regard to student learning.
Occidental College was first accredited by WASC in 1949, and our last reaffirmation of accreditation took place in 2001. Updates on our current accreditation status can be found on the WASC Membership page.
The WASC accreditation process involves three phases that take place over approximately four years. Each phase includes an institutional self-study report, and the last two include site visits from WASC-appointed peer evaluator teams. Please see the links below for more information on each phase:
