Artistic Interests
Have a creative streak? We want to know about it.
If you’re passionate about music, theater, or visual art and plan to pursue it at Oxy, we welcome you to submit a fine arts resume with your admission application.
Your academic qualifications will matter the most in admission, but your art supplement can show us some of the other talents you’d bring to Oxy.
Our theater and music departments encourage CD/DVD submissions for their review. Visual artists may submit 8" x 10" prints (rather than slides or CDs). Resumes and prints will be included with your admission application and reviewed by members of the admission staff and faculty when available.
Guidelines for musicians: Vocalists and instrumentalists should present at least two works of contrasting style or historical period; composers should present recordings of two contrasting compositions; and jazz musicians should present a slow jazz ballad and an uptempo jazz standard.
Due to the volume we receive, please note that submissions of any kind cannot be returned.
Attention thespians! Note that the Theater Department hosts an annual workshop for prospective students who are high school seniors each December. Be sure to contact them for more info.
If you have general arts-related questions, please contact Laura Tokuza Arenstein, assistant dean of admission, at tokuza@oxy.edu or the appropriate department below:
