There isn't a perfect recipe for being admitted; however, competitive applicants pursue a rigorous course of study in high school. We strongly recommend five academic subjects each year, including:
- 4 years of English/literature/composition
- 4 years of math
- 3-4 years of foreign language
- 3-4 years of science
- 3-4 years of social studies
Keep in mind that a rigorous course load includes AP, IB, honors, or advanced classes (when available and within reason for the student).
Other pieces of the application are very important in assessing academic preparation (e.g., grades, intellectual curiosity, writing skills, and teacher recommendations). Standardized test scores (SAT or ACT) are also a required part of this process. SAT II Subject Tests are optional.
The class profile has more detailed numbers for this year’s incoming students.
