Hey all! It is good to finally be back in school. Summer is always a great time but I am excited to begin my third year. It is, however, hard to believe that it is already here. Twice in the past week, I have told people that I am in my second year and have had to correct myself. Before starting this year though, I want to tell you about my summer.
This summer I had an internship with a private company called MorphoTrust USA. You have probably never heard of them, and that is totally alright. It really all fell together after I thought that I would not be getting an internship this summer. I am so glad that I found this internship because it was such a fun and rewarding experience. I got to travel to Boston and Nashville to work in the corporate offices in addition to working out here in LA. The experience I gained was so valuable and really gave me a taste of what working 40 hours a week is like. I also got to work with seven other interns from around the country, which gave me plenty of time to make new friends and hang out as well.
One of the nights, the interns went to downtown Nashville and walked around on Broadway. If you like country music even just a little, Nashville is the place to visit. They have bars and restaurants all along the street with live music every night. Did I mention there was also a store where you could buy one pair of cowboy boots and get two free? Now THAT was a good deal. Too bad cannot work cowboy boots into anything I ever wear. The trip to Nashville was fun because even though I was working, it was still as if I got to go on a mini vacation.
Alas, all good things come to an end, and so the summer and I had a bittersweet farewell. As the end of summer wound down I realized how excited I was for my classes this year. I will be taking a journalism class with a former LA Times editor. I am also taking the one economics class I plan to take at Oxy, which is accounting and financial analysis. These will, ideally, help me to figure out exactly what I want to be when I grow up. Because even as a junior, I still do not know. Alright, well that is all I have to say about that. I will update you a little later on in the semester about how it is going. See ya!
