The Team
Helen Wright has been working at the Office of Community Engagement for two and a half years now. She is a senior majoring in Urban and Environmental Policy with a focus on labor rights in the apparel industry, and looks forward to continuing her education either in social law and/or labor policy in the near, but not too near, future. After returning from a fantastic semester abroad in the Netherlands, living in Amsterdam, Helen is enjoying her last year at OXY as social chair of the Women’s Rugby team and a program manager of the O.C.E. She also has a vast interest in music and art, and is a third place national grand champion equestrian. Kyle Scoble is in his first year with the Office of Community Engagement but he is already well versed in the realm of social media and the blogosphere. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest Kyle is a junior majoring in Media Arts and Culture with an emphasis in mixed media. He is an avid soccer fan and has founded the photography club and a digital publication that focuses on the arts & culture of Los Angeles. Alex LaRosa is a sophomore and a Critical Theory and Social Justice major who has been working in the Office of Community Engagement for the last year and a half. After committing two years between high school and college to community work in Los Angeles, she feels that she has found her niche here at the O.C.E She has committed herself to social justice work with a focus on racial equality and children’s rights and plans to travel overseas to work in these areas after her time here at Occidental. Along with working in the Office of Community Engagement, Alex is on leadership with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, Nia Akoma: Women of African Diaspora, and Dance Marathon. She is committed to developing a culture of love anywhere and everywhere is goes and looks forward to starting a Love Yourself Campaign here at Oxy!
