Food or Frights?
Fall is in the air. Celebrate with these options for off-campus exploration.
The air is starting to get chilly; the days are getting shorter so harvesting is just around the corner! Although in this day and age we don’t have to harvest our food for winter, Southern California still has amazing opportunities to get in the dirt and harvest fresh food from farms all across the southland. There are so many things happening in Los Angeles to get into the Fall Season!
The Fall Harvest, Sustainability and more:
Underwood Family Farms
3370 Sunset Valley Road
Moorpark , CA 93021 (805) 529-369
Moorpark offers the opportunity to go out onto the farm and pick fresh vegetables for the fall season. You can also get a bit of your fresh food fix at a couple of local farmer's markets.
Eagle Rock Farmers Market (Friday nights)
2100 Merton Ave
Los Angeles, CA
South Pasadena Farmers Market (Thursday nights)
905 Meridian Ave (South Pasadena stop on the Gold Line)
South Pasadena, CA
Remember Food Justice Month at Oxy is this October!
If frights are more of your style of getting into the Fall Season:
Times are every weekend Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I really loved this event compared to all other ones in Southern California (Fright Fest, Knott’s Scary Farm etc.) However, if you do love roller coasters and the double thrill, Fright Fest is a good choice! Also, Knott’s Scary Farm is one of the longest running Halloween events; this year is its 41st year!
So Tigers I hope you’re excited for the Season!
