SpringFest is here!
In it's third year on campus, SpringFest this year is shaping up to be another outstanding event! I can almost smell the food trucks and feel the bass pumping and the event is still 4 days away!
So what's happening for this year's event?Friday night will kick off around 5pm with various food trucks serving up grub on Thorne Road to the left of Thorne Patio. This year will feature some of the Oxy favorites in terms of food trucks with a few new ones thrown in to keep things interesting. There will be the Coolhaus Ice Cream Sandwiches (you may remember them from last year's Alien Ice Cream event) and Kogi Korean BBQ Truck who were both at the original SpringFest three years ago. The newcomers are the Grilled Cheese Truck, and G3 Truck: Good Greek Grub. For those who are 21 and over there will be a beer garden available.
- Oxy students must show their Oxy ID to gain free access to food trucks and concert
- All alumni must show photo ID
- All guests must show photo ID
- Alumni must register themselves and their guests at the Alumni Concert Website
- No bags (of any size), water bottles, cameras, weapons, etc. will be permitted into Hillside Theater for the show
- No smoking permitted in the theater
- Everyone entering the show may be subject to search
Note: While Oxy students will get to eat and visit the beer garden for free, non-Oxy guests and alumni will be asked to pay $10.
After you've satisfied your tastebuds, then you can head up to Hillside Theater to get in line for the concert. Doors open at 8pm with the opening act scheduled for 9pm. This year's headliner Common will go on stage at 10pm. Of course all of these times are approximate as there are loads of logistics that go into putting on a show like this and sometimes the artist is the one who decides to slow things down a bit.
As you see them around make sure you thank the sponsors for this event - the Office of Student Life, ASOC, VP of Student Affairs/Dean of Students, Alumni Relations.
