We're entering midterms week here at Oxy before spring break so things have been a little hectic. I've had tests for all of my classes within the last couple of weeks and the studying has been keeping me busy. I continue to do research with Professor Kerry Thompson on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Epilepsy and I was also able to help plan Greek recruitment week which was really fun! Other than that, I've been applying for internships for this summer ranging from consulting to law internships in different cities like LA, San Francisco, New York, and overseas too because I'm always up for an adventure. Though I am planning to go to law school after I graduate from Oxy, I am trying to apply for a variety of internships that could expose me to different fields and make summer more productive. In addition to that, I'm also planning my academic path towards law school which makes me pretty nostalgic of my junior year in high school when I remember flipping through multiple college pamphlets in my advisor's office, each advertising what they offered to students. Planning ahead gets me excited for the future and all of the upcoming opportunities; I hope for the best.
I don't remember if I've mentioned this already, but because I've decided not to pursue medical school anymore, I've been able to add Art History as my minor because of the free space that is now available in my schedule! (: Though I enjoy all of my Biology classes, it's awesome having a nice break during the day where I can switch gears and learn about something different. Being able to do this has made me appreciate my education here at Oxy more because without all of the patience, advice, and help that I have received from professors and my peers here at school, I think that I would've had a difficult time deciding what I wanted to do in order for me to be happy. It taught me to be patient with myself too, which is important.
Besides school, I've been able to spend some time at home. Chinese New Year was in early February, so a couple of my friends and I had dinner with my family which made me realize how much I missed them all! I have three nieces and a nephew and being at school has made time fly by so fast and I've forgotten how fast babies grow within such a short time! I feel a little guilty because I'm not there too often because of school, but I appreciate the time that I get to spend with everyone when we have an opportunity to get together. I've also been able to go on a couple of hikes because of a Biology class that I've taken called, "Flora of Southern California" and the most recent one allowed us to go to Eaton Canyon. Here's a panorama shot (sorry for the bad quality!) of a part of the path that we hiked.
Also, congratulations to those that had gotten into Oxy Early Decision and good luck to those that are still waiting to hear back! If any of you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at: email@example.com.
Best of luck and have a great week!
