Fall in Los Angeles
Blogger: Matthew Cecconi
Let me start by saying Los Angeles’ attempt at a fall season is one of the most confusing times of the year. For example, it was raining the other day and within the hour, the sun had come out and dried almost everything up. That same night it was really windy and cold again. You never know what to expect as you wake up each morning. Fall is also confusing at Oxy because of what most people consider one of the most stressful weeks of the semester: Registration.
Signing up for spring semester classes takes up just a couple hours of your week but can cause a lot of stress for some. I, luckily, have never had much stress while registering. I actually find signing up for classes fun as I often am greatly looking forward to what the next semester will bring. One downside to registering, however, is that I look forward to my new classes so much that I seem to forget I still have a month left in the semester. Let’s just say that makes all homework for about a week a really big drag. Registering this time has caused me to think a lot about the future.
After next semester, I will be halfway done with my time at Oxy. I cannot believe this is true because it feels like just yesterday I was picking my ID card at the beginning of O-Week. It just does not seem possible that I will be done with college. As a Sociology major, I often get asked what I can do with that after college and just as often, I do not know what to say. All I know is that I am doing what really interests me and for right now, that is what I need to be doing.
With the end of the semester right around the corner, I cannot hide the fact that I am absolutely excited for winter break. It will be nice to relax, watch Netflix, and read some books on my own time. I can also say that I am just as excited to be coming back after the break to the classes that I have registered for. I’ll be taking Deviance, Marine Bio, Sociology Research Methods and Formal logic. I’m looking forward to giving you an update on my classes when blog again next semester. Talk to you guys soon!
