Finally Relaxing!
The title to this blog post may seem odd, since the school year is just getting underway and but I'm "finally relaxing"? Well, it's kind of true for me! I have been back at Oxy since August 21st when I moved in to start my Orientation Team training. With 47 other O-Team leaders, I went through a week of intense training - from about 9am-10pm daily. It was so so so incredibly fun - perhaps the most fun I have had with a group of Oxy students since I joined softball last year! We learned all about how to be a good leader and group facilitator, while also getting to know over 50 new people. I went into this experience knowing maybe 3 people doing O-Team and by the last day of orientation I had 50 new, good friends. Since the last day of Orientation I have literally spent every day with O-Team leaders. We don't even plan it. Usually I just walk into the Marketplace (the dining hall) and there's a table of 6 O-Team leaders! It strikes me as odd especially since there are more than 2,000 students here and only 50+ O-team leaders. But it's really fun to see so many faces I recognize. In other news, last Thursday was the Involvement Fair! I signed up for a few clubs, the most exciting (for me) being the Occidental Sports Business and Law Network (OSBLN). I unfortunately can't make it to the first meeting but this club sounds PERFECT! I hope it will help give me some insight into my potential future as a business lady in the sports world! I'm really really excited about that. This year I also signed up for a piano class, which meets just once a week for an hour. I'm hoping to take the intermediate class, I think that would be a good fit for me. I'm pretty pumped for this class. I also made a bet with my dad that I could learn more songs on the piano from the musical Wicked than he could by the end of this year. And I'm very competitive so I reallllly want to win :P The last little bit of new news in my life is that this year all spring season sports are required to participate in a one-unit conditioning class led by the baseball coach. We've only had one class so far but it was ridiculously hot out - especially since it was only 8:30am! But I definitely think this will be a good thing for our team (which currently has 11 players... eep!) Anywho, this may have been my longest post yet! Hope you all found at least some of it interesting, hehe. Back to homework and relaxinggg! =] Lisa G
