A Groovy Kind of Love (Winter Edition)
Blogger: Jessie Baek
Yes, You. You know who you are. You’ve been my #1 for as long as I can remember. From chasing around boys after school at the library, to lip synching to the most embarrassing songs and tragically uploading them to Facebook, you’ve been there with me through it all. You’re the first person I consult when I’m racking my brain over something stupid, and you’re also the first person I run to when I need to rant about Justin Bieber’s new girlfriend (team Jelena).
Our weekday sleepovers came to a devastating end when we both left for our first year of college. It was tough. Though the three hour time difference wasn’t the end of the world, it majorly sucked that there was a stinking 2,909 miles between us. Ridiculous, I know. Fortunately for us, we showed distance who’s boss by maintaining our everlasting friendship. Despite our lack of sleepovers, "Twilight Zone" viewing marathons, and [illegal/secret] purchases of movies through your mom’s fios account, we’re still the same Soph and Jess from throughout the years. From Oxy to Amherst, we’re still best friends.
You’re the one thing in my life that has always remained consistent. Throughout the cringe-worthy time that was high school, to the emotional and physical wave that was college, you’re always at the same place. A love letter wouldn’t be complete without a cheesy remark as to why I love you, so here it is: I have more faith in our friendship than I do in any other thing in my life. I love you unconditionally, and I’m so excited to tag along with you as you do all sorts of incredible things out in this world.
So this love letter is to you, best friend. For going to cute coffee shops with me, for taking an endless amount of pictures so that at least one is to my satisfaction, and for always being my rock and keeping me grounded. Most importantly, though, thanks for not being a basic b**** (and for being someone I can constantly be proud of and brag about).
P.S. You’re so ecstatic that I decided to dedicate this blog post to you, that you’re convincing me to include that you’re cute in this post. So here you go: You’re cute.
Love, your eternal pain the neck.
