Hello My Name Is...
Hello blog readers! My name is Marilyn Bran, and I am currently a sophomore at Oxy. I am a psychology major and I am still deciding if I should minor in art or sociology. So a little bit more about myself, I love music, movies, and tv. My type of music ranges from pop to rap and as for movies I enjoy comedies. I am also a family person so I enjoy spending time with my family when I have the opportunity. As to my participation at Oxy I am part of the Admission Team where I will meet a lot of prospective students, as well as involved in the local sorority Delta Omicron Tau. I also work for NPP (Neighborhood Partnership Program) where we tutor students from local high schools. The main reason why I chose Occidental College was because of its location in Los Angeles. I am from Compton which is not far from Oxy so on occasions I get to return home to spend time with my family (Side note: Compton is known for its bad reputation, but please don’t be put off by it, my neighborhood is actually really quiet :) ). In the past year I have actually spent more time at Oxy then home because the people here are awesome! The school is a small community on its own so it is easy to see friends around campus. I suggest visiting the schools you want to attend to get a feel of the environment both physically and socially. I actually did not see the Oxy campus until Move-In day which was exciting, but I fell in love with Oxy immediately! Hopefully you enjoy reading about my experience here at Occidental College or laugh at my jokes and stories since I am dorky and clumsy. Until the next time!
