Hey, it’s David
Happy President's Day! I'm just finishing the three-day weekend that Oxy gave us to celebrate the holiday and I would like to share a little of myself with you. I am a sophomore studying to be an economics major and I will probably pursue a history minor. Originally from Fairfield, Connecticut, I came to Oxy (and by extension Los Angeles) to see an entirely new world from what I am used to--LaLa Land has been great so far and I can't wait to share it with you! I like to consider myself a mild computer geek: I read Engadget religiously, subscribe to Wired magazine and have turned into my friends' personal tech support. With my love of computers and technology, I've found a place on campus where I fit right in. This year, a brand new media service was launched at Oxy: CatAList TV. CatAList is Oxy's student-run and student-produced on-campus television network. Currently. I am the Assistant Web Designer for the network which means that I update and maintain the content of the website, as well as work to develop new features for the site. If you're interested, feel free to check us out at www.catalist.tv. I am also a member of Oxy's largest club, Dance Production. Each spring, the club puts on a spectacular dance performance for the entire college community to enjoy. This past fall, I had the opportunity to be an orientation leader on our Orientation Team, O-Team for short. O-Team is a group of about 40 sophomores and upperclassmen who welcome the incoming class to campus and guide them through all the fun and exciting events during orientation weekend. It was easily one of the highlight of my Oxy career so far, I met a ton of new people, met some great new friends and had a blast hanging out with my new classmates. Thanks for reading, and I hope that over the coming weeks I can provide some helpful insight into life here at Oxy.
