Occidental College
Campus Conversations
Heyyyy!!!
Hey everyone!! I'm so happy to be joining the admissions blog for Oxy! My name is Chris Monteath and I am from Nashville, TN (I am just one of the few students at Oxy from the Southern region of the US, but hopefully there will be more in the future!). I am currently a Junior studying Diplomacy and World affairs with a minor in Economics and Sociology. Right now I am studying abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong for the semester. I just started to study Mandarin Chinese here and I'm having the time of my life! I highly recommend studying abroad when you guys go to college! It's so worth it! and if you choose to go to Oxy, Oxy's International Programs Office makes is super easy for its students to study abroad all over the world! On campus, I am heavily involved with dance. I am CoPresident/Choreographer/Dancer of Dance Production (the school's largest club and most anticipated event of the year!). Also, I am a Choreographer and Dancer for Pulse, a hip hop community club. We offer 2 hip hop classes (beg. and Int.) every Monday night in the dance studio to all students! Some times we even bring in professional choreographers to teach! If you are interested in dancing in college, I'm your man! And if you want to learn more about how you can get involved with dance off campus like taking classes at Debbie Reynold's or Edge dance studios, I can tell you a little about that too :) As well as being involved with dance, I am also a Resident Advisor and Campus Tour Guide! Basically, I try to build community around campus! I am SUPER nice and I'm always willing to talk to perspective students! Please please please let me know if you have any questions about oxy, dance, life on campus, studying abroad, or ANYTHING! Okay, well... I really need to go to bed. It's so late here in HK. (its always weird with the time change and all... I like to joke around and say that I'm living in the future since LA is like 15 hours behind! lol) Gooooood night! Chris :) Oh, I almost forgot! Here is a link to my actual study abroad blog in case you're interested in what I am doing in Asia! (CLICK HEREREEHHEREKRER!!) I'm going to visit Beijing this weekend!! I CAN'T WAIT! Never in a million years did I think I would get to see the Great Wall of China!! XD
