Macklemore was incredible. I hope y’all remember my last post where I talked about how excited I was about Spring Fest. I remember that my friends and I went to stand in line an hour and a half before doors opened just so we could get a great view. I pressured all of them to go early because I thought that everyone else would be doing the same, and I was wrong. When we got the line, there were maybe two groups of people waiting. It was pretty funny at first, but after an hour of sitting in the cold I was got a little cranky. But it was all a part of the experience. The concert itself was incredible (and of course Oxy dropped Macklemore when he tried to crowdsurf).
Another great memory I have was when three of my friends and I went apartment hunting. We were all set on staying in Los Angeles this summer, so on a Saturday we had three tour appointments. The most memorable one was Avalon at Media Center because after our tour, we were scoping out the area looking for jobs and suddently ran into Christopher Mintz-Plasse (the guy who plays McLovin’ in Superbad). I was the first one to recognize him and immediately told my friends, but I also told them not to freak out. I did not want us to ruin his lunch date by becoming four crazy fans. So, we chose to do the normal thing and take some creeper pictures. ‘Twas a great day.
Finally, I would say that all of my classes made my experience at Oxy that much better. I was convinced to choose a small school because my college counselor emphasized the importance of forming a relationship with my professors, and he could not have been more right (shout-out to my college counselor Rob Andrews!). Every professor at this school encourages that you meet with them at least once. Not only because they want to help you, but they also want to get to know you. Also, I’ve had some pretty interesting discussions in my classes that I probably wouldn’t have had at a bigger school.
Overall, it was a successful year; I made awesome friends, took great classes, and have many stories to tell everyone back home. I cannot wait to be back in Chicago with my family but for now…. It’s time for finals.
