Life Over Break: Friends, Food and Shakespeare
Over the last few weeks of the semester I did what any college student does; went to the LACMA with my grandpa, went out to dinner with my friends, and, oh yeah, took some (2, Muah-hah-hah lit/history majors are da best) tests. I got home Friday night, went shopping with my family Saturday, then on Sunday started rehearsing for the Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged).
In this (annual) unprecedented Compleat Works show, we were the first of our company to attempt an all-female cast. I had a great time, and got to act with some of my favorite Bathhouse alumni. Seattle-ites should go check it out; the free-with-suggested-donation youth shows are impressive, the Bathhouse Ensemble, the recently-formed alumni branch is awesome, and the mainstage season is fabulous! Funnily enough, I am also stage managing this year's winter youth show Hamlet, which I performed at my high school senior year under the direction of the same woman (she's awesome) and actually with one of the current cast members, who was a freshman at the time. I'm looking forward to it.
So I'm filling my time through most of February while I wait for my plane to Japan in April, siiigh. I'll be visiting Oxy mid-February, right when Hamlet closes so, I'll put out an update around then hopefully. Other than that, my life is mostly setting into pre-college patterns. Many of my friends have already departed to their second semesters/quarters, so I'm a bit lonely.
Until then, I will be looking for a job and bothering my high school friends! Good luck with admissions, and congratulations if you're already accepted! On a side note, I applied early decision and got in with the regular admits, so if you applied early and didn't get in, don't fret! Hope to see you at Oxy next year!
