A little about me and a little about glee

Hi Everybodyyyyyy!!!!!! This is my first blog of the semester so I just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is TJ and I come all the way from Boston, MA!  I'm an economics major with a business emphasis and a music minor...for more of my bio you can just click my name =) For all those who love to sing or love to listen to great choral music, Occidental has one of the best Glee Clubs on the west coast!  We sing music from various centuries, composers, and styles.  Right now we're working on an opera chorus, some Mozart, other choral motets and Jai Ho soon!  At the beginning of every year we go on a retreat that we just got back from.  At retreat, the glee club rehearses A LOT, but we also get so much closer to each other!  This year we went to a retreat center up in the mountains.  It was beautiful...but the air was a bit thin so it got hard to sing at times!  We rehearsed in the retreat center for most of the time, but got time to go off to play basketball, chat, and bond at night with some glee club traditions!  Here are some pictures from the retreat:

I'm so excited to have an entire year to rehearse and perform with great friends!!  This is my 3rd year in the Glee Club and it has meant so much to me.  You rarely get the chance to get together with such talented musicians and make great music.  It takes a lot of patience and can be grueling at times, but we also get so much closer throughout the entire experience and most importantly, get the chance to share out music.  At the end of every year, we go on TOUR!  My first year in the Glee Club we went to Ireland traveling all over the country performing at various locations including St. Patrick's Cathedral.  Last year we did a tour in the California Bay Area taking a road trip up the coast.  We got to since in Stanford Memorial Church and Hearst Castle!  Here is a video of one of our performances in it.  Its not the best quality...but it'll give you an idea.  This was conducted by a senior student =) Sicut Cervus - Occidental Glee Club Also, here are some pictures from last year and Ireland's tour:

 

This year we're going to Boston!! (My home town!!) I could not be more excited.  If any of you are in that area, be sure to look out for us mid May!  We also have our huge Homecoming concert coming up on October 28 if you are around the campus.
