Meet me half way...
Hello there! Spring Break is just around the corner and after that we will be half way through the semester! I can’t believe junior year is almost over. I will definitely feel old when I have to introduce myself to people as a child “senior”, bummer. But any who, since my last post I have been busy with work and homework, go figure, but now I have taken up an internship at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills, CA. This internship is on a “beta” for now so we will see how it goes. Basically what we (3 other students and I) will be doing is translating manuals from English to Spanish as well as working with the patients on techniques to help them remember to take their medicine and show up for their appointments. The patients we will be working with are patients who suffer from HIV and so it is critical for them to take their medication every single day at the same time. It is also important for them to show up to their appointments to make sure they are healthy and progressing in the right direction. I am really excited for this internship because I will be putting my Spanish to the test as well as my communication skills. This will be a 2-unit internship which basically means it’s similar to another course because we have readings to do and written assignments as well as group reflections on the program itself. Apart from that new internship, I am really excited about Spring Break. So far my plans are to go home, be with my family and also meet up with some friends. Now that I am 21, I can also enjoy going out to bars and pubs with people. But for now I have to deal with essays, midterms and counting down the days until spring break, because we need a break!! I didn’t take any interesting pictures these weeks, but my sister did! She went to Atlanta, Georgia for an Anthropology Conference (she’s a Physical Anthropologist graduate student) so she sent me this pic, yummy: Yeah she made me jealous.
