Since my last post…

Prior to spring break, as you may have read from a few of my fellow bloggers, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis were on campus for Springfest, the annual spring concert. The concert was pretty cool even though this year it was moved inside the gym due to weather and did not occur in the Greek Bowl, where it is traditionally held. While the concert is the main event, the food trucks that are brought to campus are also a very nice touch (and in my book, much needed). KOGI is my undisputed favorite option, as you have probably learned through a few of my previous posts; however the other vendors that were brought to campus offered a lot of really great options as well. The event was a good transition into spring break, as well.
Spring break, while I wish it lasted a tad longer, was very much so needed in order to recover from all the studying that I had to do in order to prepare for my midterms. The first few days of break I spent at home relaxing and enjoying the final games of the regular season for college basketball before the NCAA Tournament madness began. (Side note: I have LOUISVILLE taking it all!) The last couple of days I spent in Arizona visiting my family that I hadn't seen in a while. Overall, it was really a good break and it was really nice to spend some time off campus and at home.
Since break, things have picked up. Once again, I am back to spending late nights doing the reading for my classes, writing papers, and attending club meetings. While the workload is continuing to be a major player in the scheduling of my weeks, I have still managed to make time to go off campus for KBBQ and play intramural basketball with a couple of my peers. One thing I really like about Oxy is that everyone is involved in something. It is very rare to find a student that only goes to class and then just sits in their dorm room. From surfing to bird watching, students at Oxy have such a diverse selection of interests.
Oh! Before I forget:
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE ADMITTED STUDENTS TO OCCIDENTAL’S CLASS OF 2017! I remember around this time two years ago what it felt like to receive my admission packet. Honestly, choosing to come to Oxy has been the best decision I have ever made. I definitely would recommend that, if you have the time, you should try and come visit campus. If you are still trying to make a decision as to where to go, a campus visit can make all the difference. I know for me personally, after going through the whole application process, all of the colleges began to look the same on paper. Visiting a campus and talking to students can really help you to visualize what makes each college stand out from the crowd. My advice for making the big decision would to be honestly try and picture yourself at a school and go with your gut. This decision, while probably the most important decision you make to date, has to be made by you. After all, it is you that will be studying, learning, and living at the school for the next four years.
Good luck to everyone making their college decisions!
Until next time…
