My Spring Break in Cabo
Blogger: TJ
One of my favorite parts about Occidental is its Greek Life. I'm all the way from Boston, MA, so not only is my fraternity like a second family to me, but it also opens up so many more opportunities for me. This spring break, I had the opportunity to go down to Cabo for a leadership convention with my fraternity. Yeahhh...I definitely said CABO and all I needed to pay was my flight and a registration fee because we are fortunate enough to have our generous alumni provide this experience for us.
Here is what I did on my trip:
I woke up Sunday with 9 of my other fraternity brothers and headed to the airport. Upon landing in Cabo, we went straight to our hotel and met other brothers from our fraternity around the entire nation. We got Sunday to just relax and get to know each other around the hotel. We were the only ones there! It was very exciting. On Monday morning, we attended 3 lectures with breaks in between. These lectures consisted of successful alumni coming back and talking to us about leadership, recruitment, interviewing, networking, and much more. After our sessions, we had the opportunity to relax on the beach or by the pool. Often times we would have breakout sessions to interact more with the alumni or even play beach volleyball! This was our typical day Monday through Friday...sessions in the morning, relax in the afternoon. After dinner, we all got to hang around with each other and go into the city. Cabo is crazy! There are bars everywhere with students from all over coming to party down there. One of the best parts was that our fraternity has signs and flags around the entire city! It made us feel very welcomed and comfortable there.
I was very fortunate to be a part of this experience. I met so many brothers that I would not have met, learned a lot from our alumni, and was able to expand our network tremendously. I even may have a potential job after college because of this!!! yayyyyyy!!! This was a spring break that I will take for the rest of my life and never forget.
But yeah that was my spring break!
