A Night in West Hollywood
February 23, 2013

Valentine’s Day has come and gone and I’m sure that many of you didn’t even notice. Single or not, you’ve been eating chocolates and making cards for your friends since kindergarten, and even that kiss scene from The Notebook has lost its appeal (if it ever really did). The answer to this Hallmark holiday slump? A quick drive to West Hollywood! Appropriate for friend night outs, as well as unconventional dates, West Hollywood is home to great 18+ options like Hamburger Mary’s and Rage. While many of you might be familiar with Rage, a dance club that seems to promise an abundance of great music and minimal sleaze, Hamburger Mary’s is a restaurant/Drag Queenperformance venue. Fans of Rupaul’s Drag Race will love the cool L.A. atmosphere, opportunity to interact with the performers, and unforgettably campy impersonations of stars like 1980‘s Olivia Newton John. If it’s your birthday, expect to compete for free drinks a la booty shake competition and feel free to tip the performers after their
numbers. They really appreciate it! After a big night of dancing and dinner theater, you can sweeten your night with a trip to Millions of Milkshakes (right across the street from Rage). With it’s novelty Hollywood vibe, you’ll be amused by the cheesiness of the pink carpet and celebrity named shakes. If you don’t find it fun, even ironically, choosing mix-ins like Ferrero Rocher and nutella will certainly change your mind! Next Valentine’s Day, or any day, treat yourself to a fun excursion that will never leave you bored! If you're tight on funds or lack a ride, however, eating chocolates and watching The Notebook will always do.
