A Peek Inside Oxy's Programming Board
Blogger: Marisha Thakker
This week is going to end with the busiest day that I’ve had in a long time. Programming Board (the event management group on campus that I work for) is putting on a Charity Fashion Show on Friday – we’re collecting funds for Great Strides, a program at Oxy that helps the local community. I’m going to be helping with sound systems, and I think it’s going to be a great event- check out the Facebook link here.
Think setting up one event is enough for the night? Think again. I’m also performing at and executing the South Asian Student’s Association’s biggest event of the year. We have an annual Diwali/Eid Dinner to celebrate the muslim and hindu cultures together. There is going to be large amounts of Indian food, Mediterranean food, performances and music. I’m going to be starting a couple of dance circles to show people how we dance during our nine day festival for Diwali back home. President Obama put out a video about Diwali as well! This is a photo of a couple of friends and I back home, getting ready to go dancing :)
