Quality Time in the Library
Blogger: Kristin Feinberg
Hello Tigers and Future Tigers alike!
My name is Kristin Feinberg and this is my first admissions blog post! As for an introduction, I am a second year from Haverford, Pennsylvania.
I'm currently undeclared but I am planning on declaring Sociology as my major this spring. I play defense on the women's varsity lacrosse team and write for HerCampus Oxy. I'm usually seen on the turf (playing or cheering on whatever team is there), in Rangeview (my lovely dorm!), or in the comfy green chairs in the Academic Commons.
As it is mid-term time I am, indeed, in the lovely Mary Norton Clapp Library within the Academic Commons. Wait it's mid-term time?! IT'S MID OCTOBER ALREADY!? AH! When did that happen? Time really does go by quickly here at Oxy. I've been back in California since late August training to be part of O-Team, our orientation leader group on campus. Even though preparing the college and ourselves for the incoming First-Years was a lot of work, we had a lot of fun too. We even went roller-skating! This included a fabulous costume contest. During Orientation Week, we O-teamers got to show off our cheers and dance moves (namely the wobble) and help our first-year, transfer, exchange, and visiting students through their first week at Oxy! This included, among many things, some talks in Throne Hall, an opportunity to talk to President Veitch at Matriculation, and helping sign up for fall classes. My O-Group was AWESOME (Hi Josh, Asa, Taylor, Nate, Emilie, Sarah, Heidi, Jamie, Noah, Molly and Erin! Expect a reunion soon!) and O-team was definitely an unforgettable experience.
Then came fall! I'm currently being kept very busy with classes. I'm taking Sociology 101, Gender and Society, Math as a Liberal Art, and Theater 101. They are all challenging in their own ways and helping me shape what I want to pursue further in my college career. Although I
have been doing quite a bit of work, there was definitely a lot a play too! Being an East-coaster, I took advantage of the warm weather and made a few weekend trips to the beach! In September we had our Glow dance, in which everyone dressed up in white or neon and danced the night away while glowing under the blacklights. The picture is of some of my lacrosse teammates before the dance. This weekend is sure to be full of excitement as well! My theater class is going on a field trip to the other side of Los Angeles to see a production. The next day is the annual Toga themed dance, and Sunday my team has a fall ball lacrosse tournament in Santa Barbara.
...and that brings me back to the library. Another week of midterms is upon me and I must go prepare! You'll hear from me soon!
