March and April are the times that you all are hearing back or waiting to hear from the colleges that you applied to. I was talking to my friend from home and she was telling me that her little sister had heard back from a couple of colleges and how it reminded her of what it was like for her. Although it was a stressful time, I remember feeling so happy to have finished my applications and how nervous I was waiting to hear back from schools. It’s crazy to think that that was almost two years ago and it makes me think a lot about what my parents always say around the house, “Wow, I can’t believe it’s already [enter this month]! Time goes by quickly!” I get a little nostalgic when they say that and it scares me a little to think about what’s in store for me in the future, but it’s exciting at the same time. So, don’t be scared while you wait to hear back from the schools that you applied to, stay positive!
On the bright side, I hope that everyone is having a great Spring Break! Oxy students were on break about three weeks ago and it was nice to get the week off to relax with my friends. Most of my friends stayed at school until Thursday, so we drove around LA to places such as LACMA, Urth Caffé, and Hollywood. My friends and I also camped near Balboa Island, so we had to try the famous Balboa bars. It is a vanilla ice cream bar, coated with chocolate and sprinkles, toffee, nuts and other toppings. It reminded me of Foster’s Freeze in Eagle Rock - I used to go there all the time in high school – where there were “Dollar Cone Wednesdays” and you could get a cone of any size dipped in chocolate. If you’re ever in Newport, you should try a Balboa bar (and check out Foster’s Freeze)!
I’m bummed that break was only a week and I’m back to doing work but what’s nice about spring semester is that summer is coming soon! As always, good luck with hearing back from colleges and enjoy the rest of your senior year (:
