spring has sprung

Hello! Sorry I haven't been terribly active with the blogging. Life has been a little crazy of late. This past weekend was Relay for Life, an annual, 24-hour walk that Oxy hosts every year to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Clubs, Greek organizations, sports teams, and regular students all form teams that raise money and have at least 1 member on the track for the full 24 hours. Students sleep on the football field in blankets, sleeping bags, and tents, and it's always a great bonding experience. There are performances, competitions, and games throughout, so there's lots to do in addition to just walking and hanging out with friends. So that went from 5PM on Friday to 5PM on Saturday and took up a bunch of time. Then, at 7, I walked to Delta to meet the group of my sisters that was going rollerskating for a few hours! We carpooled to this funky little rink in Glendale and went roller skating with a 70s theme. It was super fun, even though I was terrible and almost wiped out like 15 times. At 9:15PM or so, we decided to leave the rink so that we could all get back to campus and get ready to go out to various social events happening that night. But while walking back my car, the five us heard this tiny mewing sound. My roommate and I got out our little flashlight key chains and went into the dark parking lot towards the sound and found two teeny, tiny kittens that had clearly just been born. We wrapped them up in old shirts from my car and drove to the Pasadena Animal Control Center, only to find out that they couldn't keep them because they were too small. Luckily, one of the girls I was with is from nearby, and her friend's mom volunteered to take them. So we drove to La Canada where she lives, washed the kittens with cotton pads, fed them with eye droppers, and prepared a box with a heating pad underneath to keep them warm. We headed back to school around 1AM, exhausted but pleased with the night's accomplishment. At last check in, both kittens were doing well, and I've posted a picture so that you can all see just how adorable they are! Anyway, that was a busy but unusual night for us. The next day, I got to see my parents who had a layover in LA on their way home from a vacation. (Jealous!) Then I had Delta meeting, Delta elections, and homework. This week isn't too terrible in terms of work though, so I was able to get together with 4 other Deltas at our house and watch Tangled while eating fresh brownies. It was super delicious and fun, and an awesome way to start the week. Other than that, I've been working on homework and trying to get other, life tasks done. My car desperately needs to go to the car wash, and it had been over a month since I did laundry, so it was a relief to get that done. My roomie and I are running out of laundry detergent and she suggested we buy a new one, but it's not even worth it because there's so little school left. It's hard to believe that it's only 3 weeks until summer!!! I'm super excited for it, but it's also weird to think about being 50% done with college!!! Eek! Real life is waaaay too close. Anyway, I've rambled enough. Hopefully you enjoyed this, and I'll write another entry soon. :)
