Summer!

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having wonderfully fun summers, I know I am! This summer feels super long for me for a few reasons: 1. We ended school in early May, which is crazy because in high school I wouldn't finish until mid June! 2. My job didn't start til mid June, so I had over a month to relax and be bored! 3. I want to go back to Oxy!!! It feels like this is the first time I've realllyyyy wanted summer to end because I miss college & all my friends! I'm currently at work. (Don't tell my boss!) My summer job for 5 years has been as an assistant teacher for a program at my high school called The Partners Program, in which inner city middle schoolers attend a month of fun and educational summer school. The students are all incredibly bright but do not have access to opportunities often available to higher income families. This is my first year as a College Intern at the program. I'm in charge of taking pictures and making the yearbook, updating the website, and a lot of other little things. I teach two 9th grade classes and spend a lot of time hanging out with the rising 7th, 8th & 9th graders. This week is spirit week and next week is the last week, then on Saturday we have graduation! I can't believe it's almost over, I hate when Partners ends. But again, can't wait to be back at Oxy!!! Time to get back to work! -- Lisa G =]
