Summer Internship with UEPI

I hope that everyone has been having a great summer and had a great academic school year. I have been relaxing at home and hanging out with friends and family. It’s been nice to get some downtime, and it has also given me time to look for other things to do throughout the summer. Recently, I accepted the position as the Healthy Food Policy and Program Intern at the Urban and Environmental Policy Institute. It’s been great to engage with new material and participate in workshops with parents and children in the local communities around the Eagle Rock area. UEPI and the program that I work for supports a great cause, which is to make people more aware about their access to local, healthy food and how they can improve their lifestyles as well as those of their children. If anyone is interested In majoring in Urban and Environmental Policy or wants to check out what else they have to offer, feel free to check out the website (http://www.oxy.edu/urban-environmental-policy) and be sure to visit the site for the Urban and Environmental Policy Institute as well (http://www.uepi.oxy.edu/).
That’s all that I’ve been up to really: working, enjoying my time at home, and exploring more of LA when I have time off. Oxy gets off of school for summer break earlier than most schools, so I’ve had an early start to summer compared to my friends at other colleges. My friends that go to UC’s (such as UCLA and UCSB) have barely finished with finals this past week and have started to move home. A lot of my friends are also staying in the East Coast to do research or work at their college. I’m excited to see those that are coming home, and I'll miss those that I won’t see.
I think that’s it for now, have a great day and restful break! The weather is also supposed to be nice in LA this week so if you’re in the area, head to the beach if you can and soak up some sun!
