Summer in Seattle
Hey everybody!! Hope you are all having a great summer! I have been having my share of fun as well, although the weather here has definitely not been up to my standards of "summer weather"... or even "go-outside weather". Two days after the solstice, I took this picture. I think it speaks for itself.
Seattle has been living up to it's rainy and overcast reputation. There have been a few pleasant days here and there, though, and Seattleites don't miss a beat stripping down to their shorts and tank tops... even if it's only 68 degrees (which would be considered practically frigid in Los Angeles). I recommend all of you in more milder climates enjoy your refreshing summer breeze, because Los Angeles in August and September gets really hot. Last year, it reached 113 degrees and my friends and I slept a couple nights in the library because our dorm (Stewie) didn't have air conditioning!! So far this summer, I've spent a lot of my time working at a clothing store called Madewell. When I'm not working, though, and when it's not pouring rain, I've been able to enjoy the beautiful outdoors! Last weekend I went hiking with my sister. In the classic Washington fashion, there was still about a foot of snow on the ground.
I've also been to a couple Sounders games. My family and I have been Sounders fans since before they joined the MLS, and it's so fun to go to the games and cheer on our favorite team with thousands of other people. Here's a picture from the last game I went to:
As I mentioned before, Seattle has a beautiful day every once in a while. My dad lives in a houseboat on the west side of Lake Union, directly across from Gasworks Park. A fleet of sailboats went right by his house and I was able to take this picture. Proof that Seattle can be beautiful!
To all the incoming freshman, enjoy your summer before college! Spend lots of time with your family and friends, and get excited about starting school in August!
