Time Flies When You’re Having Fun

A truer statement has never been spoken. I cannot believe that spring break is already just a week away. This semester seems to be flying by and I have been trying to make the most of it. From a standing weekly date to go to a taco truck and then watch the new episode of How I Met Your Mother with friends, to going hiking on the weekends, life this semester really has been fun. One of my favorite trips this semester has been a midnight trip to the local bowling alley to bowl with my friends. Another plus from this semester is that my classes are all really fun and entertaining.
As I mentioned in my last blog I am taking two sociology classes, deviance and qualitative research methods, to help satisfy requirements for my major. In addition to those, I am taking Marine Biology and Formal logic. The way my classes this semester are set up has given me a little bit of an easier schedule. Aside from deviance, most of my classes seem to have right and wrong answers. This is a nice break from most of my sociology classes that can generally have many different correct answers that need to be supported. This is not to say I do not love my sociology classes. I think they are the best classes you can take on campus (I may have a little bias seeing I am a Soc major). Nevertheless, I can happily say I love all of my classes this semester.
In addition to hanging out with friends and classes, the majority of the first half of this semester has involved looking for potential jobs and/or internships for the summer. This has meant updating my resume and learning the art of writing a convincing cover letter. I have also spent a lot more time working with the Career Development Center to make sure my resume and cover letters represent the best I can offer to a future employer. If you don’t know what the Career Developmental Center is you should definitely learn to be friends with them after coming to campus. They will help you find jobs and internships no matter what your major is and they are good at their job. Now I am just hoping that after all of my applications have been sent to potential employers I can be called back for an interview.
As of right now I would say the second semester sophomore is off to an extraordinary start. I just hope that it continues to be as great as it has been so far and then by the end I will be halfway done with college. That is something that still sounds weird for me to say but I am starting to like that more and more as the days pass. I’ll talk to you all again at the end of this semester and update you on how things are going then. Peace.
