Time is Flying By!
Blogger: Enrique Aguilar
I’m baaaaaaaack. Hey guys, it’s Enrique reporting for duty! It’s been a while since my last blog post and I have a lot to say. First, did someone press fast forward on life?! Time has been flying by, and at first it was very overwhelming, but now I am getting used to it. Every Friday, my friends and I have been coming up with themes for the day. Last Friday we did “Vaquero Viernes” so we had to dress as cowboys/cowgirls for the whole day. I look forward to every Friday, so that kind of helps slow down time. Anyway, My birthday countdown has officially begun! Just 11 more months and I’ll be 20! I know you are probably thinking that I am crazy for starting my countdown the day after my birthday but it gives me something to look forward to all year round.
Spring break is around the corner and you know what else is? MACKLEMORE! Ever since I found out that he is performing at Spring Fest I’ve been trying to learn the lyrics to all his songs. So far I’ve perfected Thrift Shop and Same Love…you know…the two songs that pretty much everyone knows. I am probably going to end up being one of those kids who mumbles all of the songs that I don’t know and go crazy once one of those two songs
plays. To be completely honest, I had never heard of Macklemore until the Oxy Programming Board announced it. Everyone around me was really excited so I pretended to be just as excited…and mumbled his songs when they played them in my room. As soon as they left I listened to his album on “the youtube” and became an instant fan. Just ONE more week!
On to the next topic: internships. Once I realized that The Timekeeper (that’s a Spy Kids 4 reference) decided to speed up time, I started to think about my plans for the summer. As much as I love Chicago, I definitely want to stay in L.A. and get an internship. The other day I sent in an application for an internship at Live Nation Entertainment as a music marketer and I really hope that I at least get an interview (cross your fingers now please). Until I (hopefully) get the phone call, I want to go to the CDC and show them my resume so that they can help me find other internships in the L.A. area. If this plan fails, I can go back to Chicago and work as a camp counselor, which is not a bad plan but I'd prefer an internship.
Things are looking great at Oxy, and I cannot wait to know what the future holds (kind of ironic since this post was about how fast my days are going by). Wish me luck!
