Traveling and Dancing…whattuppppp

Wow summer has been very eventful thus far!  I have been blessed to have the opportunity to travel so much in such a short time!!

I started it off with a vacation to VEGAS!  What a way to start right? haha I’ve never been there before and had a great first experience there!  Right after I came back, I went on tour with the Occidental Glee Club.  Yeah that’s right!  Our glee club gets to tour around the world!  We’ve been to places such as Ireland, Bay Area, Vegas, Australia, and many other places.  This year we went on tour to Massachusetts with stops at the Cape, Boston, Cambridge, and Sherborn.  When tour ended, I got on a bus to go to NYC to dance for a few days at the Broadway Dance Center, and now I’m finally home!

This summer, I am fully dedicating myself to dance…and summer school.  I am putting a lot of work into Oxy’s first dance crew, Hyper Xpressions, to get that off and running when school gets back.  I want to talk a little bit about Hyper Xpressions in case any of you are interested in dance.  Hyper Xpressions is a dance crew that seeks to integrate and appreciate all styles of dance.  So far we have dancers that are specialized in ballet, hip hop, popping, jazz, street jazz, ballroom, and more!  Our crew makes bi-weekly dance videos that we release to the school’s TV show and to our facebook page.  In addition, we want to branch out next year to do performances around the LA area to get our name out there, but to also publicize and recruit higher quality dancers to Oxy!  Hyper Xpressions is completely student run.  We choreograph our own pieces (sometimes we have professional choreographers teach!), so if you have choreographing experience or just love to dance, I highly encourage you all to come to auditions!  Here are some pictures of Xpressions so far!
