Hi again!
It’s about the time of the semester when things start to feel a little hectic and work needs to be done. A couple of weeks have passed since the start of the semester and I’m starting to feel the stress, but a good friend of mine reminded me to not let a piece of paper scare me and to not succumb to challenges easily. It’s nice to have support and encouragement, especially when it’s hard to see past the day.
Recently, I answered a variety of questions that determined my top 5 strengths. The strength that I connected with the most is “Developer” which is defined as someone that likes to see the good in people and help others. I think that it’s important to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses because not only is it important to work on your weaknesses, but to recognize your strengths as well. This will come in handy when you get to college and decide what you want to study and be involved in based on what you enjoy and are good at. What’s so great about Oxy is – for example, in terms of their academics – you can take classes and see what you like and it still applies towards graduation and benefits your self-awareness because it helps you determine what subjects you enjoy. So, if any prospective applicants to Oxy (or any college!) have a major in mind, just remember to be open-minded. It’s nearly March, so it’s almost time for colleges to send out their acceptance letters, so look out for yours! I remember getting mine from Oxy on March 27th of my senior year in high school (:
P.S. A good break from studying is baking cookies. My friends have been baking cookies (or buying them) to eat and donate to the soup kitchen. Until now, I have never had cookie dough from the tub and it’s pretty good.
