Weekend Update (not with Seth Meyers)
Hello blog readers! I hope everybody had a fantastic President’s Day weekend – I know I did! In honor of this esteemed holiday I attended a “political party,” in which party-goers dressed up as famous political figures. I met a young Joseph Stalin, the 1%, and some other interesting characters. I committed a major party faux-pas and didn't dress up, mostly because I wanted to wear this sheer top that I have neglected lately. My sorority just initiated 29 new girls as pledges, which was amazing as it always is. I have a little sister this semester, which is a very important relationship for Greeks. My big still takes me out for coffee and cupcakes! I hope I can pass down an awesome legacy to my new little.
This is Alpha Lambda Phi Alpha Spring 2012! Not all the sisters are here, we are a sorority of about 65 members. The new members are in white wearing the crowns. Alpha ♥

I know this is a really critical time for all of you making college choices, but it’s also hard because you haven’t heard back from all your schools yet and maybe haven’t gotten final offers of financial aid and scholarships. I wish you all the best of luck with your choice! In the end, I think I would have been happy just about anywhere I could have gone. Oxy is special, don’t get me wrong. Oxy has provided me with the opportunities I’ve always wanted and I love the professors, classes, students, and campus. But it’s important to be the kind of person that can make the most of any situation. What’s made my time at Oxy so far so amazing is the experiences I’ve shared with the best friends I’ve met here, and no matter where you go you will meet people worth sharing your life with. So don’t stress… too much :-) I want to know what you guys want to hear about! This blog should be a place you can come to to get a feel for what Oxy students really are up to, so leave a comment if you have something you want to hear about. Eating on and off campus? Sorority and fraternity life (which has gotten pretty darn big on campus!)? My guide to figuring out shopping in LA? When I first got down here I had no idea where to go to buy what, and that was such a hard transition for a girl that runs straight to the mall after a rough day! Don’t forget that you can always head over to Her Campus Oxy to read up on what’s going on around campus, to read profiles on real live Oxy students who are doing great things, and to see photographs of Oxy taken by the staff. Also, because my friends gave me so much crap for the last time I posted a photo of my fingernails... here is what I am currently wearing on my nails. 
It’s OPI Teenage Dream (part of the Katy Perry collection) topped with China Glaze Snow Globe (part of their Holiday 2011 collection) then topcoated for extra shine. It’s a glittery pink explosion everywhere and I love it, but it’s pretty awkward when your own fingernails blind you in the LA sun and you can’t see and you trip on your way to the Marketplace. Have I mentioned I'm obsessed with my new iPhone and Instagram?? I can't put the darn phone down (especially since lots of my friends play Scramble with Friends). More Instagram photos coming up next time!! I hope this was somewhat entertaining, and if not, at least worth 15 minutes of procrastination :-) Love, Madi
