Where has all the time gone?
Blogger: Kyle Beasley
I feel as though this semester is passing me by so quickly. I cannot believe that there are only 2 weeks of classes left in the semester before final exams. It is difficult to wrap my head around the idea that I am almost done with my second year…
Class registration was a couple weeks ago and as a second-year student, registration was a breeze. In terms of getting my classes, I had no trouble whatsoever. Next semester I will be taking:
CTSJ140 – Critical Theories of Sexuality
EDUC141 – Community Literacy
GEO105 – Geographic Information Science
PSYC110 – Intergroup Dialogue: Race and Ethnicity
UEP310 – Urban Policy and Politics
I’m pretty excited about my schedule because I feel like the course material is going to be interesting. Another reason I’m excited is because I somehow managed to not have classes on Fridays, however, I will have an 8AM class two days a week…
A couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to sit on the evaluation panel for the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) final presentations. ELP is a great opportunity for first year students to build upon and gain valuable leadership skills and make important connections with Occidental administration, faculty, and staff. I was a participant in the program last year and I will say that it was one of the best decisions that I’ve made. The relationships that I developed through the program have helped guide me though my time so far at Oxy. Being an alumnus of the program, I was excited to be take part again as a panelist so that I could provide feedback for this year’s group and help guide them as I had previously been guided.
Besides that, I’ve been quite busy. I have also been doing a lot of thinking about studying abroad for next spring, I was able to vote in my first presidential election, and I’m overwhelmed with the amount of college basketball and football games that are going on. (Congratulations to Notre Dame for beating USC!) Anyway, I have still been making numerous trips to taco trucks and
many boba runs in the late hours of the night during study breaks. I feel like as a college student, these trips are necessities.
With the semester quickly coming to a close the final assignments, presentations, and exams for my classes are slowing beginning to take up more and more of my schedule. As I said before, only 2 more weeks of classes and then finals week!
Good luck to all the seniors currently working on college applications!
