Eco-Takeout - Now Enrolling
"To-go" never looked so good! With its safe, heavy duty plastic, the eco-clamshell can be reused, re-washed, and eventually recycled at the end of its 4+ year lifespan.
Step 1: Sign-up to join the program (no need to re-enroll each year).
Step 2: A participation fee of $5 will be charged to your meal plan or FLEX plan. You will receive a 25₵ discount every time you use an eco-clamshell instead of a disposable takeout container at the Marketplace.
Step 3: Once you receive confirmation of your enrollment, visit the card office and pick up your first eco-clamshell token.
Step 4: Exchange token at staffed stations at the Marketplace for an eco-takeout container.
Step 5: Upon single use of eco-clamshell, rinse (or at least wipe-out) and return clamshell to the Marketplace cashier stand to be washed, and receive an eco-clamshell token to exchange for your next clean container.
Repeat Steps 4 & 5 - again & again, and congratulate yourself for being so smart and committed to sustainability at Oxy!
Why it Matters: The Oxy community uses thousands of disposable take-out containers each year. Some can be composted - but others will end up in landfills. The most sustainable option if you need to remove food from the Marketplace is the eco-clamshell. You can be part of the solution!

The Eco-Takeout Pilot Program was substantially funded by the ASOC Renewable Energy and Sustainability Fund, with additional funding from Campus Dining. The ongoing program is funded by Campus Dining and individual enrollment fees.
