Eco-Takeout Program Expansion
Beginning this semester, all residential students will automatically be enrolled as members in the Eco-Takeout program in the Marketplace!
About the Eco-Takeout Program:
The Eco-Clamshell is made of safe, heavy duty plastic, and can be reused, re-washed, and eventually recycled at the end of its 4+ year lifespan. All members will receive a token that can be exchanged for a container at any of the Marketplace stations.
When enrolled, a one-time $5 enrollment fee will be charged to your meal plan, and you will receive a $.25 discount at the register with each use of a container. Also beginning this semester, all large to-go containers will be charged $.50 at the register.
If you choose to opt out of the program, please submit the Opt-out Form on the Card Office website by February 28th.
Use Instructions:
Tokens will be available for pickup outside of the Card Office February 19th-22nd, from 11:30am-1:30pm. After February 22nd, tokens can be picked up from the Card Office during normal business hours.
Step 1: Bring your empty, rinsed container back to the bin at the Marketplace cashier stand and exchange it with the cashier for a token.
Note: If there is a line at the cashier stand you may approach the cashier from the side, you do not need to stand in line.
Step 2: Receive clamshell token from cashier.
Step 3: Proceed to any of the stations to exchange token for 1 clean clamshell.
Note: If you would like to use your container at the Salad Bar, go to any staffed station and exchange your token for an empty container.
Step 4: Either fill Eco-clamshell with salad bar or have clamshell filled with food by a server at any of the stations.
Note: When using a clamshell at the salad bar:
· Full container = large salad
· Half-full container = medium salad
Important Dates:
February 19th-22nd- Token pick-up for new members: 11:30-1:30 outside of the Card Office. If you miss this opportunity, tokens can then be picked up from the Card Office during normal business hours.
February 28th- Last day to submit Opt-out Form.
March 1st- All large to-go containers will be charged at $.50 each. Eco-Clamshells will receive a $.25 discount.
Fall 2013 - All new residential students will automatically be enrolled in the program. Opt-out is still available. The Eco-clamshell discount disappears.
