Local Highlight- Navel Oranges
Organic Oranges are back!
This week’s local highlight is Navel Oranges from Rainbow Valley Orchards, which is located just 100 miles from Oxy in Fallbrook, CA. Rainbow Valley Orchards was founded in 1990 when owner Rich Hart formed the organization with nothing but a little rope sizer, a single cooler and a handful of employees. After a few years of providing organic products to small natural foods stores, Rainbow Valley Orchards was able to expand to their current size.
“Rainbow Valley Orchards is dedicated to the support and overall development of organic, sustainable agriculture and viable, responsible methods of recycling and usage of our cherished resources. We sponsor and lead local educational seminars and workshops so that growers stay informed of the latest, most effective organic farming methods, as well as the ever changing organic agricultural industry. We also provide services to help them with their purchase of organic materials and pest management decisions. We promote, educate, and in every way possible, work to expand the market demand for the organic fruits that are increasingly being supplied by our growers.” – Rainbow Valley Orchards
