"Please have chicken fingers/tenders in the Cooler all the time! And Sweet potato fries!
Unfortunately the Tiger Cooler only has one fryer well, and we need to keep the oil vegetarian. We can occasionally offer meat items baked in our pizza oven, as a weekend special. As for sweet potato fries, due to the added challenge of very small storage spaces at the Cooler, we cannot offer them all the time, at least not unless we eliminated another menu item.
"Please bring back the eggplant sandwich [to the Cooler]. None of the new sandwiches are vegetarian. Although I am not positive, the vegetable porta has something brown that is made of fish. Also, the eggplant sandwich was one of our favorites at the Coffee Cart."
"I love the Eggplant sandwich from Susina Bakery! It's one of the only and one of the best vegetarian sandwich options at the Coffee Cart. I was wondering why it hasn't been there for several weeks and would love for it to come back!
When we did the last major overhaul of the Tiger Cooler menu, the eggplant sandwich was eliminated due to very low sales. Even using the eggplant at the pizza station was not enough to utilize half a case before spoilage. There is no fish in the portabella sandwich, and the only topping added, other than lettuce and tomato, is grilled onions - which can be omitted by request. We're glad you like the Susina Eggplant Sandwich at the Coffee Cart. Sandwiches and salads are on a three week rotation there. The Eggplant Sandwich was featured this week, and should return again the week of February 9.
"Please, can you change the fruit options? Melon is getting boring"
"It would be so great if there were more berries!"
Melon is not only boring, it is also out of season. So are berries, unfortunately (but not for long). You will be seeing less melon for a while, especialy watermelon. At the Marketplace we'll be rotating Mexican Papaya, Oranges, Pineapple, Apples and maybe even Mangoes at the salad bar. At the Tiger Cooler look out for Grapes and Strawberries, when they come into season.
"Can we bring back the breakfast quinoa [to the Coffee Cart]? I loved that stuff, and it looked like other people did too because there was usually barely any left when I got some."
While we were very excited about the numerous varieties of quinoa offer through Susina, sales have not supported our hope that the students would purchase in great quantities. We order as few as 6 at times, and still have trouble selling out (staff keep a record of what time each item sells out). Leftovers are sold the next day out of the Tiger Cooler to avoid waste. We'll continue to order Quinoa products, and if they sell out quicker, we will increase our orders.
"More vegetarian sandwiches please. Vegetarian paninis with pesto and mozzarella cheese and spinach would be delicious. Also creamy tomato soup was delicious! I would rather have that that regular tomato soup."
We have two new vegetarian sandwiches coming to the Marketplace this week at Homestyle:
Wednesday 1/29 lunch Balsamic Portabella Sandwich
Thursday 1/30 lunch Grilled Eggplant Sandwich with Soy Cheese (v) or Bleu Cheese (vl)
The Cream of Tomato Soup was repeated on 1/23 and will return again in February
"The African almond sweet potato bean stew yesterday was DELICIOUS!!!! I would love to see that again! Thank you!"
That was a new recipe for Meatless Monday (1/20). We are experimenting with cuisines other than Indian, because our Indian cook is not always available. Glad you liked it!
"Love the new tea in the Marketplace. Thank you."
We have switched to Harney and Sons Teas, a family owned and managed business. Thanks for letting us know your opinion!
(1/21) "I love the salad bar! I am wondering if it would be possible to add a little variety every so often - perhaps things like onions, bell peppers, sugar snap peas and cauliflower?"
(1/23) "I wrote in a few days ago asking about more variety at the salad bar, and it already seems to be happening!! I just wanted to say that I love having the red onions - they add such nice flavor and really spice up my salads! I hope they become a regular option! Same with the artichoke hearts and cauliflower!! Thank you so much for adding some variety - I really appreciate it, and it does not go unnoticed!"
Your wish is our command - much of the time, anyway ;-)
