Who knew there was a nationwide shortage of soy yogurt? Not us, until we kept getting shorted by our suppliers on every order we placed! A quick google search came up with the news that the largest manuafacturer of soy yogurt in the country has temporarily suspended production due to lack of processing facilities. We don't know when we'll be able to bring back soy yogurt (individual as well as bulk for making parfaits), but in the meantime, read the whole scoop about Whole Soy:
As for boba, true boba requires many ingredients and can be very labor intensive especially in a tiny space like the Cooler. Tapioca pearls must be prepared fresh daily and discarded if not used. We simply don't have the labor or production or storage space to make and sell boba at the Cooler, and since this product requires counter service, it also would not be practical for the Marketplace. We're sorry.
Vegan foods are more popular than ever at schools nationwide, including
here at Occidental. As a student on campus, I am hoping to see more
delicious, cruelty-free foods offered. With schools across the country
such as the University of California, San Diego and the University of
North Texas opening all-vegan dining halls in recent years, the very
least we could do is offer a wide range of vegan meals in every dining
There are so many delicious and eco-friendly foods available nowadays,
from faux-beef tacos to vegan pizza, and Occidental could be doing so
much more to meet the growing demand. I urge you to work with students
to implement these changes."

- Chobani is our preferred Greek yogurt, but unfortunately we sometimes have supply problems. The last two weeks have been problematic for Greek yogurt supplies in general, although not as difficult as for soy yogurt (see above). Chobani actually had a recent recall http://chobani.com/ that affected availability.
When our suppliers (we have two) are out of Chobani we have a list of acceptable substitutes, but some of them have also not been available lately, so we have accepted whatever we have been sent. Today (9/4) we received a shipment of Chobani and we hope that the problem is solved, at least for the time-being.
- Organic Baked Potato Wednesdays are back tonight (9/4). And although we will not have sweet potatoes (yams actually) tonight, they will be back next week (9/11). Happy dining!
