Find an Internship

Students are encouraged to secure multiple academic and non-academic internship experiences in a variety of occupational areas.

Interning allows students to clarify career interests, gain invaluable skills, and begin to build a professional network. At Occidental College, students are not placed in internships. It is the student's responsibility to research options and find a suitable site. However, there are some Career Development Center resources that provide a great place to start your search for an internship.

CDC Resources

Through TIGERlink, you can access to NIC, which has thousands of national internship opportunities that are specifically targeted to our campus as well as those of peer institutions who are members of the Nationwide Internship Consortium (NIC). You can access NIC once you've registered on TIGERlink (see below) by clicking on the "Nationwide Internship Consortium" link in the Jump To section.

Since all students have already been pre-populated into the system, you can register on TIGERlink by inputting your Oxy email address as your username (e.g. username@oxy.edu), and click "forgot password." An email with a newly regenerated password will be sent directly to your Oxy email address, which you can then use to login. If you are having trouble, please call the Career Devleopment Center directly at (323) 259-2623 during business hours, or email us at careers@oxy.edu.

There are internship Directories in the Career Resource Library and internship resources online that can be helpful as well.

Internships.com
Find more opportunities through Internships.com which lists over 10,000 internships.

Academic Opportunities
Some majors, such as Economics, UEP, Psychology, Physics, and others require and/or offer internships through the major.

Direct Marketing Approach
Not finding something in your occupational area of interest or geographic region? You may need to identify organizations of interest and broach them directly. To learn how to approach organizations, we encourage you to make an appointment with a Career Counselor.
