WIMS Away Shadower at Huntington Memorial Hospital
Doctor Shriner was very organized, confident, knowledgeable, and explained herself well. While shadowing her at the hospital, she led a team made up of two resident doctors and herself. She is an effective leader, listens very well, and remains calm under pressure. After shadowing Dr. Shriner, it is apparent that her work as an infectious Disease and HIV specialist in the hospital and at her own private practice is rewarding. From observing her and other doctors, you can see the passion in the way that they handle their job and how they prioritize their patients' health. They love their job and clearly enjoy what they're doing. I definitely feel more motivated to pursue my academic endeavors because there is evidence that if you work hard and truly work towards what you want, you can attain it. These doctors are all brilliant, but they all worked hard to get where they are at.
