Emmons Health Center
Psychological Services
Students access psychological services at Emmons Health Center for a wide variety of reasons.
Our staff of licensed clinical psychologists and supervised graduate trainees provides assessment and short-term individual and small group counseling to help students be fully engaged in their academic and social activities. In addition to providing referrals for psychiatric evaluation, long-term therapy, medication monitoring, or more serious problems, we provide consultation and support to faculty and professional staff. Professional counseling staff are on call twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
Some of the most common include transitioning to college (being away from friends and family); academic expectations; or feelings of depression, anxiety, or stress. Students may also seek counseling to talk about issues surrounding relationships, identity, drugs and alcohol, or social connections (fitting in). Others may come in to talk about personal growth and development ot issues surrounding body image.
Whatever the reason, the Health Center is a resource for students to take advantage of during their time at Oxy. Our clinical psychologists conduct one-on-one, couple, small group and family counseling. In addition, our psychologists can provide referrals to assist students and families access information and resournces in the larger community. Be well!
