Prescription Drug Benefits
The student health insurance plan provides for a network pharmacy benefit for prescription medications. While Emmons Health Center stocks many medications it does not stock as many as a commercial pharmacy. Medications dispensed by Emmons Health Center are not subject to a copay.
Find out which Contraception Medications are covered by your student insurance plan. (Please note, that Emmons Health Center currently stocks: Caziant, Trinessa, Sronyx, Orsythia and Depo Provera. For all others, the Health Center can write prescriptions that can be filled at local pharmacies.)

Prescription Coverage
Present your UnitedHealthcare ID cards to an network Medco pharmacy (such as CVS, Walgreens, and Target) when the prescription is filled.
Note: If you do not use a network pharmacy, you will be responsible for paying the full cost for the prescription.
Benefits are subject to supply limits (up to 31 days) and copayments. The copayment varies depending on which tier of the Prescription Drug List (PDL) the outpatient drug is listed. Your copayment/coinsurance is determined by the tier to which the Prescription Drug is assigned on the PDL.
Tier 1 Prescription Drug (Generic) - $15 co-pay
Tier 2 Prescription Drug (Brand) - $30 co-pay
Tier 3 Prescription Drug (Preferred) - $50 co-pay

Mail Service Program
Prescriptions are also available through a Mail Service Program under the Student Insurance Plan. Through the Mail Service Program you will pay 2.5 times the cost of a 30-day supply for a 90-day supply of your prescription drug. Go to Gallagher Koster to learn the details of the pharmacy program, including the Mail Service Program, and receive the maximum benefit available.
Study Abroad Prescription Program
Students who study abroad can request additional months of prescription coverage by completing a Vacation Override Request Form. Go to Gallagher Koster and download the form under "Pharmacy Network". Please allow 2-3 business days of Gallagher Koster's receipt of the form for processing.
How the Prescription Drug Benefit Works at Emmons
Emmons Health Center has common prescriptions and over-the-counter medications.
Prescriptions filled at Emmons Health Center will be paid at 100% with no co-pay.
All benefits are subject to satisfaction of specific benefit limitations, maximums and co-pays as described in the policy. The Master Policy on file at the College contains all of the provisions, limitations, exclusions and qualifications of your insurance benefits, some of which may not be included in this handout. The Master Policy is the contract and will govern and control the payment of benefits.
