Campus Pride's LGBT-Friendly Campus Climate Index
Do you identify as a queer student?
If so, the CGE and QSA would like to bring together Queer Identified students in order to help with the implementation of Campus Pride's LGBT-Friendly Campus Climate Index. The LGBT-Friendly Campus Climate Index is a vital tool for assisting campuses in learning ways to improve their LGBT campus life and ultimately shape the educational experience to be more inclusive, welcoming and respectful of LGBT and Ally people. The index is owned and operated by Campus Pride, the ONLY national nonprofit organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create safer, more LGBT-Friendly learning environments at colleges and universities.

Arely Zimmerman on Citizenship and Belonging Across Borders
The Politics Department invites the college community to attend a talk by Politics Search candidate Dr. Arely Zimmerman, University of Southern California. The talk is entitled "Contesting Citizenship: Central Americans and the Politics of Belonging Across Borders."
Dr. Arely Zimmerman interrogates the shifting boundaries of citizenship through the lense of Central American communities in the United States, a diaspora that has faced violent displacement from their countries of origin as well as legal and socio-political exclusions in the United States, and shows how their grassroots activism is redefining notions of membership and belonging in the context of their everyday struggles for rights, representation, and inclusion in multiple polities.
Refreshments will be served.
