The late Hendrik Stooker worked at Occidental from 1987 until 1997 as slide curator and director of the Weingart Galleries. His knowledge and critical eye made Weingart a respected venue in the Los Angeles art world, and a source of nuture for local artists. In 1989 he co-founded the Arroyo Arts Collective and organized the first members' studio tour, now in its 20th year.
