FAR AWAY by Caryl Churchill & THE BALD SOPRANO by Eugene Ionesco
TWO WEIRD PLAYS directed by Alan Freeman
In FAR AWAY Caryl Churchill has written a poignant and disturbing story. It is a tragi-comic play about a dystopian, future world in which the little girl, Joan, becomes an adult as the world – in fact all creation – prepares for war.
THE BALD SOPRANO, one of the best known existentialist/absurdist comedy of all time, was written by a Romanian émigré who was astonished by, among other things, the absurdity of language.
Translation by Donald M. Allen
FAR AWAY and THE BALD SOPRANO also perform April 4 & 5 at 7:30pm.
Director Alan Freeman will give a talk following the April 5 performance.
