Oxy Freewaves Presents Sub/Culture

Oxy Freewaves presents Sub/Culture an open-air presentation of video works exploring the heterogeneity of Los Angeles and the complex mix of personal, social, historical, and geographic variables that both divide and connect us.

To be an Angelino is to be a part of one or more subcultures, which alternately blend and clash in compelling ways demonstrated by the communities and individuals depicted in these works.

Oxy Freewaves: Sub/Culture marks the 4th annual collaboration between the Media Arts & Culture Program and Freewaves, a Los Angeles media arts organization that has championed alternate exhibition of art and activist media across the city for over two decades.

The event will feature videos by Occidental students as well as selections from Out the Window, videos produced by Los Angeles artists and community members for the MTA transit system. Join us for a night of wine, conversation, and community-engaged media!
