CSP Lecture: Carl Hart
A lecture by the author of High Price
Carl Hart is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry at Columbia University. He is also a Research Scientist in the Division of Substance Abuse at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and a member of the National Advisory Council on Drug Abuse. He is the co-author, with Charles Ksir, of the popular textbook Drugs, Society, and Human Behavior. In 2013 he published High Price: A Neuroscientist’s Journey of Self-Discovery That Challenges Everything You Know About Drugs and Society.
Each year the Cultural Studies Program hosts six distinguished speakers from outside the Occidental community, deliberately chosen to represent different fields and perspectives. All CSP Lecture Series events are held in Thorne Hall and begin at 11:45am and typically run about an hour. All of lectures are open to the public and admission is free. The CSP Lecture Series is supported by a generous grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
